BPL 2013/14 (Game 30) - Cardiff City 3-6 Liverpool
Beating United at Old Trafford was twice as good as 2009
Beating United at Old Trafford was twice as good as 2009... this would be up there with the glory days of Shankly and Paisley
On my way home from White Hart Lane on Sunday evening, I sent Steven Gerrard a message as I do after most Liverpool games.
Normally I’ll ask him how he felt the match went or for his views on any major talking points but this time, having watched Liverpool dismantle Manchester United, no questions needed answering. So I punched the words ‘Twice as good as 2009’ into my phone.
I know what it is like to go to Old Trafford and win by three goals but I couldn’t tell you how it feels to go there, play United off the park and make them spend the last 10 minutes chasing shadows as Liverpool’s ecstatic fans shout ‘Ole!’ with each tormenting pass.
When we won 4-1 in March 2009, the final score was a little distorted.
Don’t get me wrong, our display was superb but we had to deal with spells of pressure, trailed to a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty and only pulled away in the last 13 minutes with two goals after Nemanja Vidic had been sent off.
I remember the celebrations in the away end being raucous and we were delighted as we walked off the pitch, yet our elation was tempered.
We were still four points behind United, having played a game more. We hoped we would win the title but they still held the upper hand.
Sunday’s performance, however, was completely different. United may be an inferior side to the team they were five years ago but that should not detract one bit from what Liverpool did to them.
The intent was there from the first kick and 6-0 at the final whistle wouldn’t have been flattering.
What’s more, the impact of the result and performance will have been felt across Manchester at the Etihad Stadium, reaching Stamford Bridge and the Emirates Stadium in the process. Nobody will dare underestimate Liverpool now.
Manuel Pellegrini, Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger will have looked at the two games Liverpool have just faced, away trips to United and Southampton, and probably expected them to return with, at best, four points.
That they have come through them with six unanswered goals, maximum points and confidence soaring will be causing Pellegrini, Mourinho and Wenger concern. The more they get into this race, the more impressive Liverpool look.
Full credit to Brendan Rodgers, who is handling the situation supremely well. What you get with Brendan is exactly what you see.
In his interviews and in the technical area, he never gets over-excited, always remaining in control.
That’s what you want from a manager — focus and composure, a clear plan and unshakeable belief in his methods.
He is a coach who thinks progressively, coaxing improvement from his players with encouragement and giving them opportunities.
We get told constantly about the problems with the British game.
How players can’t play the right way or retain possession, yet here is a British manager defying the critics and showing it is possible for young players to play with style and great technique.
He has been repaid with consistent performances and increasingly impressive results and you only have to see how Jon Flanagan, Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson have come of age during this campaign, maturing from boys to men.
Sterling must now be a certainty to make the World Cup squad. He knows how to use his explosive pace and he has an end product to go with his skill. Flanagan, meanwhile, is putting himself into contention to be on the plane.
England are well stocked for full backs but if something were to happen to Glen Johnson or Kyle Walker, Flanagan should be the first port of call. He is more than just someone who can make a tackle and he is versatile, uses the ball well and is growing in confidence.

Two Steven Gerrard penalties and a Luis Suarez strike downed rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford as Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool did everything to strengthen their title credentials.
Liverpool took the lead after 34 minutes, with Rafael handling in the area before Steven Gerrard stepped up with a perfect spot-kick, sending David De Gea the wrong way.
The Brazilian defender was lucky to stay on the pitch having already been booked, but Mark Clattenburg kept his cards in his pocket.
Wayne Rooney tested Simon Mignolet just before half-time, but his fizzing effort was parried away.
Phil Jones then upended Joe Allen in the area just after the break, with Gerrard stepping up to slot home with inch-perfect precision again.

BPL 2013/14 (Game 29) - Manchester United 0-3 Liverpool
"Alaaaa... lawan team main sepuluh orang bolehlah menang. Lagi-lagi dapat dua gol melalui penalti. Dasar pengadil berat sebelah. Keutuhan Old Trafford musnah tanpa berbalas apabila Gerrard berjaya menjaringkan gol melalui dua penaltinya disusuli Suarez melengkapkan malam kegemilangan The Reds.
" David Moyes is a football genius". Pujian ikhlas dari Liverpool. Ikhlas yang penuh bermakna.

Oprah Slams Lindsay Lohan In New Reality Show
Oprah Winfrey scolded Lindsay Lohan after learning that the Mean Girls star had been obstructing the filming of her new reality show, scheduled to go on the air next week.
After leaving rehab last year, Lohan was interviewed by Oprah and agreed to star in an eight-part documentary program titled “Lindsey” for Winfrey’s OWN network about her experience. However, a freshly released trailer for the show reveals that Oprah came close to shutting down the entire project.
An intense scene between the talk show host and the 27-year-old in Lohan’s NYC apartment, features Oprah telling Lohan:
“My truth is that I really do want you to win, I really do. If that isn’t what you want, I’m OK with that. I will tell (the crew) to pack up and leave today. You need to cut the bulls**t. You really do.”
In the trailer we also see Lohan crying and fighting with her dad Michael Lohan.

World No. 1 Lee Chong Wei won the All England Open Championship title
World No. 1 Lee Chong Wei won the All England Open Championship title for a third time, sweeping aside China's Chen Long 21-13, 21-18 in the final in Birmingham.
The Malaysian started strong, and his victory never looked in doubt as he completed a hat-trick of titles by defeating his 25-year-old rival, who won last year's championship
Despite his third victory, 31-year-old Lee hinted that this may be his last appearance at the Championships.
"I think this my last All England. I'm very happy and I tried my best because Chen Long is a very tough match for me.
I've lost to him many times so I think for this reason I made sure I tried very hard. I've finished for this year and I don't know if I will be back next year." Lee Chong Wei quoted.
Chong Wei reigns supreme at Yonex All England Championships
LEE CHONG WEI delighted his passionate followers this afternoon by defeating Chen Long in devastating fashion to lift his third men’s singles title at the Yonex All England Open Badminton Championships at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena (NIA).
The world number one from Malaysia, who was appearing in his sixth successive All England final, made an aggressive start and went on to score a 21-13 21-18 against the second seed to avenge last year’s final defeat by the Chinese star, who had also overpowered him in the Korean Open final in January.
But this win means the Malaysian has won both of the first two MetLife BWF Super Series Premier events on the year as he followed up his 10th victory in the Malaysian Open in January.
And the All England crown will put him in good heart for his return to Britain later in the year to defend his Commonwealth Games title in Glasgow 2014 before going in search of an elusive first world title in Copenhagen at the end of August.

BPL 2013/14 (Game 28) - Southampton 0-3 Liverpool
Walau bagaimanapun tamat separuh masa pertama, keputusan masih kekal 0-1.
YNWA.
